Son regard se concentre sur quelques mots griffonn\u00e9s sur le c\u00f4t\u00e9 de ses latrines : <\/strong><em><strong>Tigwiritse Nchito Chimbuzi Moyenera Nthawi Zonse.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Utilisons les latrines correctement \u00e0 tout moment.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ce qui peut sembler \u00eatre un simple message rappelle constamment \u00e0 Annie, 37 ans, l&#039;une des p\u00e9riodes les plus effrayantes de sa vie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&quot;Les souvenirs sont encore frais&quot;, dit-elle. &quot;Je travaillais dans les champs quand j&#039;ai senti mon estomac se nouer.&quot;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Annie est soudainement tomb\u00e9e tr\u00e8s malade. Trop faible pour rentrer chez elle \u00e0 pied ou appeler \u00e0 l&#039;aide, Annie s&#039;est effondr\u00e9e dans son champ, o\u00f9 des membres de la communaut\u00e9 l&#039;ont retrouv\u00e9e plus tard et l&#039;ont rapidement emmen\u00e9e \u00e0 l&#039;h\u00f4pital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&quot;C&#039;\u00e9tait terrifiant&quot;, dit Annie. &quot;Je ne pensais qu&#039;\u00e0 mes six enfants. Mon mari est mort il y a plusieurs ann\u00e9es, donc je suis une m\u00e8re c\u00e9libataire. Qui allait s&#039;occuper de mes enfants si je mourais ?&quot; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Annie avait le chol\u00e9ra, tout comme cinq autres personnes dans son petit village. Elle \u00e9tait la seule \u00e0 vivre. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&quot;J&#039;ai surv\u00e9cu&quot;, dit-elle solennellement. &quot;Mais l&#039;exp\u00e9rience m&#039;a fait peur et je ne voulais pas revivre \u00e7a.&quot;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En tant que seule survivante, Annie s&#039;est engag\u00e9e \u00e0 trouver une solution \u2013 elle ne voulait pas qu&#039;elle-m\u00eame, ses enfants ou quiconque dans sa communaut\u00e9 soient \u00e0 risque de contracter le chol\u00e9ra. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.waterforpeople.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/IMG_1787-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-673\" width=\"449\" height=\"299\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Avant les cas de chol\u00e9ra, de nombreux habitants de son village pratiquaient la d\u00e9f\u00e9cation \u00e0 l&#039;air libre, ce qui peut contaminer les sources d&#039;eau et provoquer le chol\u00e9ra et d&#039;autres maladies d&#039;origine hydrique. Lors d&#039;une formation organis\u00e9e par Water For People et des agents de sant\u00e9 locaux, Annie a appris le lien entre la d\u00e9f\u00e9cation \u00e0 l&#039;air libre et le chol\u00e9ra et a su qu&#039;elle devait agir. D\u00e9termin\u00e9e \u00e0 prendre soin d&#039;elle et de ses enfants, elle a rapidement commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 construire ses propres latrines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&quot;J&#039;avais quelque chose \u00e0 faire!&quot; dit-elle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Annie ne s&#039;est pas arr\u00eat\u00e9e \u00e0 construire ses toilettes. Elle voulait faire plus pour sa communaut\u00e9, alors elle est devenue une promotrice de l&#039;hygi\u00e8ne.
